Agriculture connectivity questions

Can you reach a site with no fiber anywhere near it?

Often, and it is a construction question rather than a service order. What decides it is the distance to existing fiber, the route and who owns the ground it crosses, permitting, and the build method. An availability review answers all four with a real number — including the cases where the economics do not work, which is worth hearing early rather than after a season of planning around it.

What does a packhouse or processing site actually need?

Usually more upstream capacity than the operation expects. Traceability and grading systems, packline data, quality imaging, and camera coverage all push outward, and camera traffic alone is frequently the largest consumer on site. Symmetric capacity matters here in a way it does not for an office, because almost everything the site produces is leaving it.

How do you handle SCADA and irrigation telemetry?

On a private path, kept off the public internet end to end. Pump control, moisture and flow sensors, and cold-storage monitoring are small in volume and unforgiving about interruption, so the design goal is determinism rather than throughput. Where the telemetry has to reach an operations centre or a third-party platform, that egress is planned deliberately instead of being left to a general internet circuit.

Can a build be ready before harvest?

Sometimes, and the answer depends almost entirely on when you ask. A build that needs route survey, easements, permitting, and construction is measured in months, not weeks, and the permitting is rarely the part you can compress. Operations that bring us the connectivity question during planning get a service that lands before the window; operations that bring it up during the window generally get an interim option and a permanent build afterwards.

Can several ranches or sites be connected as one network?

Yes — private point-to-point paths between field offices, packhouses, and processing sites put them on a single network with one internet egress and one voice system, rather than a separate connection and a separate phone bill at every location. It is usually simpler to operate and easier to secure than a collection of independent sites.
