Public Sector connectivity questions

How do public agencies buy connectivity from you?

Through whatever process the agency is bound by — competitive solicitation, cooperative agreement, or an existing vehicle — and we provide the pricing, service descriptions, and documentation each of those needs. Where a program applies, such as E-Rate for schools and libraries or the California Teleconnect Fund for eligible entities, we support the filing rather than treating it as the agency’s problem to solve alone.

Can dispatch and public-safety sites be built resiliently?

Where physically separate routes exist to the site, yes, and that is engineered explicitly rather than assumed from a diagram. Where they do not, the honest design is a documented single path plus a secondary service over a different medium, described as exactly that. For dispatch in particular, knowing which of those two you have is more valuable than a redundancy label.

Can you backhaul traffic signals, cameras, and ITS equipment?

Yes, and it is a common build. Signal controllers and detection are light; camera coverage is the volume, and it is almost entirely upstream, which is where contended services fail. The practical questions are aggregation points along the corridor, growth headroom as cameras are added, and keeping that traffic on a private path rather than a public one.

Can facilities across a city or county share one network?

That is usually the point. Private paths between city hall, public works yards, libraries, corporation yards, and remote facilities put the agency on one network with centralised egress, one voice platform, and one place to apply policy — instead of a separate circuit, firewall, and phone bill at every address.

How long does a build in the public right-of-way take?

Longer than the fiber work itself suggests, because encroachment permits, traffic control, and coordination with other agencies set the pace. We give a timeline after a route survey against the actual addresses, and we would rather quote a realistic date than an optimistic one that a permit cycle then moves.
